Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, wins Nobel Peace Price

The Canadian Politician – Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in resolving the border crisis with breakaway Eritrea that has persisted for decades through many administrations. Upon election, the prime visited Asmara, the Eritrean capital, to meet with his counterpart to hold talks on restoring diplomatic relations. The Eritrean president, Isaias Afwerki, returned the favour and visited Addis Ababa, the first in over twenty years. The young prime minister has been credited with many bold economic initiatives designed to strengthen the country’s economic standing. He has embarked on a mission to privatize the economy and fight chronic corruption. The 43 year-old assumed office in 2018.
