The Canadian Politician – the NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, is promising Canadians of reasonable cellphone and internet cost if elected Prime Minister. The NDP leader told supporters at an event in Toronto that “We are amongst the highest cost jurisdictions in the world for our cellphone services.” Singh stated that he hopes more competition from carriers based outside the country would help in lowering the cost of cellphones and internet for Canadians.
For this to be possible, Singh acknowledges that companies should allow other companies to use their infrastructure in the interest of competition and the consumers. Singh further noted that any such collaborations should be considerate of security concerns and privacy of the user. The NDP plan would save Canadians a yearly average of about $250.
