The Canadian Politician (Toronto) – Gerry Butts has received an invitation to testify before the Justice Committee. Butts wrote to the committee chairman, Anthony Housefather, after he watched the testimony of Jody Wilson-Raybould. Wilson-Raybould testified that she was pressured to override a judicial decision made by Kathleen Roussel, Director of Public Prosecution in the prosecution of engineering giant, SNC-Lavalin. Butts told the committee that he has evidence that might be worth considering as it deliberates on the matter. Butts has asked the committee for some time to consult with his legal counsel on what he might share when he testifies.
Also testifying before the committee are the Clerk of the Privy Council Office, Michael Wernick and Nathalie Drouin who is the deputy minister of justice. The pair who has testified once before, will be making a return appearance before the committee.
